Tenerife rain.

The warm tropical rain started as a spitter

but soon became a heavy downpour.

It was unusual and unexpected.

Everybody headed for cover.



I found myself staring at a very

bright window in the Safari Shopping centre,

but I made the fatal mistake of looking

for more than a minute.



The Aisian shop keeper seemed

to appear out of nowhere at my side.

His mellow voice soothing,

his body language

almost hypnotic,

hands and head

seemed to dance,

those staring eyes

that tone.

"Come inside,

come inside

much cheapness."

It was too late.

He was a giant snake

entrancing me,

poor me,

I was no mongoose.

I was caught.



A week later the watch broke.
