Not quite right

I am old and disabled,

but i like to get out and about.

The other day i went to the Mall,

but the escalator was broken.

I don"t mind the stairs,

i get there in the end.

It"s the stares i hate

they never seem to end.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I work doing in home care for elders with many different types of disabilities and I've heard many stories like this. I have a blind friend who I've taken to the mall in past and wheeled around in wheelchair. People stare and say why bother she can't see anything. The blind are NOT deaf not unfeeling to lousey stupid comments. Another time I took her to the movies and someone behind us made the same stupid comment,I said you like to go out and watch a movie, you know what's on your t.v. even if you are out of the room by sound. The blind are not deaf and enjoy getting out as much as anyone else! They soon shut up..Ignorance is not always bliss...
