Nightmares

The devil evades my agonized sleep.
His carnal demons deride as I weep.
Beguile, their tricks. I refuse to succumb.
I attempt to run, though my legs are numb.

Where darkness ends, prodigious blood assails;
Within this vast maze of horrific trails.
A multitude of wicked laughter shrieks.
Cimmerian shadows embrace horrid freaks.

Anxiously, I awake in the midst of night;
Protruding panic, a mirror of fright.
My heart beats arduously. I'm dripping sweat.
Terror lingers. I'm inept to forget.

The cycle abides. Corruption persists.
My bedroom shifts and reality twists.
Indeed, he awaits. The nightmare begins.
If this is Hell, please God, forgive me my sins.
