As you lay sleeping,
all too briefly,
I stroke your silky hair,
leave a gentle kiss
on your forehead,
smooth out the covers
and wish your troubles away,
as if it was that simple;
all the while knowing,
there is no tomorrow,
or today,
or even yesterdays;
only our parallel universes.

I found the back and forth
In the comments as interesting.
I believe what you have said
As I have always had the feelings
You spoke of and have kept my hair long
Most times in my life.
I am bad on Native American lore
Finding out late in life that one
Of my grandmothers was full blood
Native. I never met her but seen
One picture.
A little thing she was.

As my hair grows longer, so does my view. Time, it flows in circles, we find our life in the eddies, if we ever do. Perspective, Dear;-)
;)
Native Spirituality believes their hair holds power, that's why it's important to keep it long because if you cut it you lose the abiltiy to predict and project forward in time
I remember learning in class once that they kept a Native solider in each regieme in the 1st or 2nd world war because they had studies which showed that the groups with native soilders would survive better, the native soilders would get a gutt feeling and demand to move and then that area would be bombed and stories like that, anyways they also found when they forced them to cut their hair their ability todo so weakened so they were the only soilders alwowed to keep thier hair... never researched the validity of it but I do mostly trust the prof...

I've read that & believe it. I've been in enough situations where I came to rely certain people's feelings or gut when it was a crap shoot, and I'm still here, happy and everyone had all their parts when we went home ;-) some things transcend science, policy or procedure, especially when it's your ass and not some government grant funded, pointy headed, chair warming, wide at the waist (not that I'm not moving more in that direction as I get older), indecisive...nevermind ;-)
lol
look at us! both so possitive with a hint of cynic...so human its inhumane :p
