Sifting the Sands of the Moon

Folder:
Flashback Fridays

As I sit

in the starlight,

sipping whiskey

and pondering

all the things I've done

or failed to do,

I can't help but contemplate

the sensation

of your sands

slipping between my fingers.

I am feeling this somewhat now, this is beauty in its natural state. I really enjoyed the last lines especially. I thought they were very apt poetically.

Simple, Short, and Sweet... but Potent

It's simple, short, and sweet... but potent. I didn't get the beginning until I read the end and then it came to together in a cohesive image. The bottom half of the poem gives meaning to the top half. When you dull down parts of a message, the most important parts shine all the more by contrast. The "sands slipping between my fingers" was the most powerful statement. I think it's an ancient concept that represents the relationship between humans and time, life and its quickly approaching end... death. Our lives are so short but so important... Like your poem, lol!

Thanks! Sands are slipping for all of us; but what sand is slipping?
