Time stands still, as I touch your hair, caress your skin, and feel your heart beating next to mine. Only, with each beat, with every breath, you drift further from me, and closer to another.
As I read this, my heart and mind went back 20+ years when my boys were babies. Oh how you love them and they are all yours. There whole exsitance depends on you, but as they grow you know that they will replace the love they have for you with someone else. I remember my oldest saying, "Mama, her hair is sooo soft" It is so bitter sweet to love. They will always be my babies. This may not be the way you meant for this to be taken, but it blessed me to think of that simple, unconditional love that I have for my boys.
One of the great things about poetry is that the writer has one thing in mind, but every reader brings their own thoughts and experiences to the poem, and when the two don't meet, but create something new, that's truly art ;-)
I really love this poem.
Right now I can relate to it.
So it struck home with me.
Except my time doesn't stand still.
It's the passing of time that I fear the most.
This was a satisfying read to me.
A reminder.
Thank you for that.

thank you. You write stirringly the ghost of what you write stays with me.

This piece in particular struck me. I enjoy the twist, the beginning in its closeness and the stab that just leaps out at you. I have a few of those myself. It really sucks when the reality is just as twisted.. the words are just so real.. I know these words.. these feelings.. quite well.. quite recent.. As Poppy stated.. you are a great addition to our little community! I look forward to reading more of your work! Thank you for sharing!
Wow! I didn't see that ending coming! A good poem, short, to the point and surprising at the end. You might be interested to read my poem 3.3077 minutes ahead. It's also about time and how it can mess with relationships :-)
