When all is said and done,

and the last shovel

of red clay is tossed 

into that sad hole,

filling the cavity

that has connected us;

please understand,

I mean you no ill will;

I hope it all works out 

well for you;

I simply will

have no reason

to even pretend 

to care 

anymore.
