It's Thanksgiving Day
so maybe I should try
try to say
how thankful am I
for this small town life
which I have been blessed.
This town is rife
with folks who won't rest
if a friend is in need.
And most folks consider
you a friend indeed
whether they know you or not.
So, I just thought
how thankful am I
for this small town life.

he final installment of my Thanksgiving Series for 2023. I thought about writing a snarky little poem about how thankful I am that I can finally end this series. I challenged myself to write a poem every day between November 1st and Thanksgiving Day this year about something for which I am thankful. I started struggling with ideas/inspiration for this series a couple of weeks ago. Some days it just took me longer to think of an idea to write about than others. But I stuck it out and thankfully I finished the series. But I didn't mention any of that in this poem. Instead, it occurred to me that this little town and the people who I share it with are awesome and worthy of being thankful for.
