Mother

I've lived a long life
but not in years
I've lived it with experience
through love and through fears

I've given my heart
only to a few...
only one person kept it
and that one person is you.

When bruised and battered
you took me inside
you healed me of my wounds
you held me when I cried

As years went by
you never left your post
you nurtured my strengths
when my strength was a ghost

And even when I left
with tears in your eyes
you promised me forever
and never have you lied

And when I am a man
and with a son of my own
I will tell him of an angel
God gave to my home....
My mother.

Ok I don't think I have to tell you this brought a tear to my eye, but it did, so now I have to tell myself again not to admit that to anyone anymore. Very nicely written!

This poem brought tears to my eyes! Very nice poem, you can feel the love you have for your mother.

I'm oh so drained but I had to send my love for this one. Never have I read anything like this that was so powerful and so sweet. You have such a beautiful heart and she raised you right! She's lucky to have a son like you and you're lucky to have a mother as wonderful as her.

Very good! Glad I found this one. I wrote two mother's day poems and one for dad, but haven't posted them yet. I'm taking care of my Mom now. She had eight of us.
Keep up the good work!
