I smiled tender as they handed her to me
counting each finger and finding myself
mesmerized at just how small beautiful
could be.
She lay perfectly in my arms not fully aware
that her world had been disrupted bigger,
but she changed lives around her even
yet smaller.
It is hard to imagine a more lovely reflection
of sunlight than that which catches the
twinkling eyes of a newborn baby for the
first time.
And tonight, cradled beneath an aching moon.
I wonder how she is doing....where she is...
and if by chance she is whispering softly to the
same moon.
And I wonder, how it changed so quickly
fading from light to dark, from soft to harsh,
from daddy to somebody I used to know
back then.
LOVELY PIECE
