Eyes of The Beholder

What the eyes see can be amazing.

Just a single photograph can be part of a thousand memories.

The glorious sight that the human body possesses can be quite innocent.

However, at times, the sight an be so vile and horrid.

The eyes of the beholder have seen so many things.

Positive and negative.

Loving and not so loving.

Solemn and obvious.

Emotions are actually the biggest of them all.

Some say that with the blink of an eye,

your whole life could change.

Others say that it isn't sight, but a sound mind that allows the beholder to see what it sees.

Premonitions are a part of a powerful state that lets sight travel into the deepest and most vulnerable pieces of the mind.

How can sight do so much, yet be counted for so little?

Without the eyes of the beholder, we would not see

the light of day.

Nor would we see the dark of night.

Stars wouldn't appear, the sun wouldn't rise,

and the world would be so very dull.

I should know... I'm the beholder.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Did you ever wonder what would happen if you woke up one morning completely blind? Having spent your whole life being able to see the faces of those around you and the beautiful scenery in your environment, would you be able to continue living knowing that you may not ever see those things again?

In answer to your question under your comments, yes I could go on,because I've reached to the age of 50 thus far,I've traveled a lot of places, seen a lot of things,I would be thankful to have a life continue blind or not.I feel I have been blessed thus far in this life ,even through times of chaos. You see, beauty is not just for the eyes to behold ,it is for the heart to contain. Im in the med field and I have a very good friend who is 77 she had sight all her life till 1990 then due to cataracts and eye surgery where eyes turned to stone she went blind.I learned a lot inhelping her with daily skills, braille, etc and the best way for you to answer this question ,is put a bandana around your eyes so you can not see.Walk throughout your home and see if you can find your way around.Initially you will bump and stumble but eventually your sense become more acute. When one goes blind, the taste and touch and smell, and hearing senses take over.It would not be an easy adaptation initially, but I know I could do it.I also know there are catalogues of talking aparatus like calculators, watches, timers, theromstates, book machines and there are marking devices that use wax so you put in collar or hem of blouse or skirt or dress or pants leg that you match up outfits and know what the colors are.It can be done,it just takes a will to do it. Something to ponder...
