A Rose's Betrayal

Within your eyes, I saw it planted.

Within your embrace, I felt it grow.

Its roots followed my soul's path, so deep did they go.

I fell for you, as they did for Mother Earth.

The crimson petals fall ever so slowly.

The seasons come to pass, and my heart breaks.

The thorned vines of its atmosphere capture me.

Twisting me in their grasp.

Blood as red as the rose itself drips over my pale flesh.

For the dagger you set into me hit its mark.

Life's love is what I sought after.

A rose's betrayal is what I found.
