speech falls silent

let not the words spill out

so much to say

too much time to set a date



changing the mind at the last moment

backing down,

letting it wait awhile;

simmer.



walk around the hurdles.

run in place.

sit on the metal bench,

as the world passes by



the cars sped by

as the sun rose and set

game,

set and match,

forfeit the title.



the speech impediment remains.
