Pain that lingers!

The pain in your eyes is too loud to be silent.

It shouts and gets echoed in this closet (we call ‘our abode’).

Leaves imprints on the newly painted walls (of ‘our bed room’).

I have tried to clean it so many times.

That day I saw new but temporary colors on the wall have faded away.

And now your pain is so evident there, it is so loud.

I am scared sometimes neighbors will also hear it.

They might ring us and ask us to be quiet.

More so when it is a late and quiet afternoon…

More so when it is dark and dusty.

And even more so, when you are quiet and I am quiet

I fear that the bell might ring.

And cutting across the silence amongst us

It will make the loudness of your pain more apparent!

Background to this poem!

These two souls are married and live together. It seems one of them is in pain. Pain that lingers. Because of that both are not happy and there's eternal silence prevailing amongst them. Now this pain that lingers has its story in the past.

Love
