Reflections

The Day is drawing to an end

Evening songs soon to begin

To bring my day of what now is past

Into memories made and shadows cast

The clock is striking in the hall

its echo heard within the walls

of a heart that wonders of the sun

after all the evenings songs are done

Time is such a mysterious thing

You never know of what it brings

Laughter ~ joy ~ tears ~ and fears

of days now past and a future near

Babies sleeping in my arms

Cherrios and Lucky Charms

Now I lay me down to sleep

Within my heart the memories deep

Both now grown and on their way

Joyous tears on wedding days

A daughter's face so much like mine

A son's loving heart so warm and kind

As I reflect upon my life

within the quiet of this night

I see far more joys than tearful woes

It just now all seems so long ago

When life's journey sings mournful songs

Do not dwell on what seems so wrong

Look confidently to the days ahead

And remember of what our Lord has said

Never will I give to you

A burden that we can't get through

For if you place your faith in me

A brighter day you will soon see

I claim this promise now to be read

upon this site to hearts now led

That takes a moment to read the words

Of my lifetime led and lessons learned

Now I lay me down to sleep

touch my heart that now does weep

Remind me of a promise made

To guide me to the breaking day

And now just as I say Amen

another promise Is made to him

To put these words upon the page

For you to read the promise made

Perhaps today your heart too weeps

As evening shadows slowly creep

Bow your head and say a prayer

You will find the saviour waiting there.

A day ~ a week ~ a month ~ some years

But he always stands forever near

to hear us when we come to pray

Some years ~ a month ~ a week ~ a day?

Oh how beautiful and nostalgic! Takes me back to my own childhood days, when these very words I prayed. Then a step farther, it takes me to the days of being a Mommy when I listened to my own children as they said their nightly prayers. Better yet, it takes me to the present, for these same words I pray each night, as I lay myself to rest. Thanks Lesa, for writing and sharing this beautiful prayer.

In these last weeks, I have been having to remind myself so many times of this promise from the lord. It is a promise I have believed in for quite some time now. But there are times when it is so nice to be reminded of this promise... You have reminded me once again as if the words were directly from him!

Thank you my dear friend!
