Carousel Ride

Handsome steed upon brass pole

Color black

And mane of gold

Saddle red

And reins of brown

Ever circling~

Round and round.

Tiger striped with colors bold.

With snarling fangs

You ride the pole.

Many people come your way

As you circle

Round today.

Swans of white ~ with seat between.

So much a part of lover's dreams!

You too hold a spot

On this magic stage

To preserve the promise

of this day.

Flahing lights

Red, white, and blue.

Laughter at the site of you.

Joyous hearts and hopes abound

As you circle ~

Round and round.

A childs first ride.

A memory made

To be called upon

Another day.

Parents, just behind the scenes

Remembering now their childhood dreams.

Music swells and laughter sings

Arms outstreached

For your brass ring.

Figures moving up and down

Ever circling ~

Round and round.

Zebras, Lions, Swans and Steeds

Forever play in children's dreams!

Presearve the past of memories found

As you circle ~

Round and round.

Dear Carousel ~ you are a sight

That fills the heart with pure delight!

Some say your age is almost gone

How I pray that they ~

are wrong!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Remember your first ride upon the Carousel?  Remember the first time you trusted your little one to ride all alone?  Remember the cotton candy, the bright balloons?  Remember the feeling?  How long has it been since you took a ride upon a  Carousel?  The next time you see one standing in all of its magnificence, take a moment to remember a day gone by.  Buy a ticket, mount a steed, and let your heart return to yesterday. ~Lesa~

Hi Lesa,
Thanks for reading and commenting
on Little Princess some time ago.
I enjoyed reading Carousel Ride. It
sure brought back memories of my child-
hood. Pleasant ones.Very beautiful.

I loved the description that you used here.
I have no children, but if I did it would be fun to let them ride the carousel.
I cannot remember my first time, but I remember other times.
I saw one the other day at the mall.
All the children having a ball.
I decided not to get on.
Maybe I should have.

I love the feeling your words give. It has a movement of it's own. It's as though I'm riding it and seeing my surrounding through your graphic descriptions. The message of remembering your first ride on a carousel is powerful because it reminds us to slow down and remember the good times even when our chaotic lives try to take over.

Mom,

This one made me cry because of my first ride on the Carousel. We were at Disneyland. Remember? As you said that is a memory of joy that will never be forgotten!

Another great job of painting the feelings of your heart with your words. You are good at this.

I Love You Mom

Hi Lesa,

I rode a carousel just about 48 hours ago. I had a friend invite me to our local amusement park and the last ride I took was on the carousel. I saved the best for last.

I love the carousel ride of life. It just goes round and round giving one an opportunity to get a complete 360 degree view of the world God has blessed us with. I'm so glad that I found this poem. and I get to be the first to share a recent carousel ride experience with you.

in light and Spirit,
BraveHawk
