My grandmother from my dad’s side has always been a religious person. Ever since we were kids, she invited us and some other grand uncles and their families to dinner at her house (as a fact, she is one of the best cookers I know), but right before we start to eat we all had to pray and thank god for providing us with the food. Sometimes it took some time, especially when she took the prayer, but we didn´t really care because we all knew that she enjoyed watching us all get together and get spiritual. One of the things about her is that she always kept this huge bible with golden colored pages next to the stairs of her house, every time we come to visit her it is always in the same spot as usual. Every time my dad or someone mentions her, hername or even the word “grandma”, the image of that bible stays in my mind for quite some time. Some times when I am talking to her by the phone, I may miss some of the things she said because of thinking about that book. I can´t recall when she acquired it, just that one day when I was a very young kid, I saw it next to the stairs one time I visited her for the summer. If this I am sharing was a novel or a short story the bible might have been some kind of symbolism because there have been times when the house was almost empty whenever my grandma was thinking about moving to Canada, but for some reason that big holy book was just there next to the stairs opened in the same page, in the same Psalm, 139. Not a long time ago I realized that that big old book was not there for no reason or that it was only part of the decoration or because it matches with the very dark brown color of mahogany wood; no, it was there because her intentions are for us to read it and always remind ourselves what message was the Psalm trying to transmit: God will be always with us no matter what and as long as he is around, there is no evil in Earth to destroy our faith and spirit. Thankfully my Grandma is enjoying a happy healthy life in her house always praying for us.
