Oh, please hurry just a little bit faster-
I have been waiting for so long.
I want to be able to reach the stove,
So that I can see what’s going on.
Its hard to wait and watch others ride.
While I’m still too little to go.
Oh, hurry time before it’s too late
And I miss this, before I grow,
Tall enough and old enough
To do all the things that I want to do.
Please slow down, just a little bit.
Because I cant even catch my breath.
This merry-go-round is spinning to fast
And will soon become my Death.
Just cut the pace and give me some slack-
This is not a race you know.
Slow down and stay with me a bit longer each day.
So I can smell the lavender lilacs
And feel the ocean’s spray
That I encounter along life’s way.
I know I wanted you to be quick
As my young legs needed to run-
To places that I’d never seen
and was sure that they’d all be fun.
But now I need you just to slow down.
And linger a while longer.
I need to hear the morning birds chirp
And see the setting sun.
Each day before forever this is gone.
And I continue on life’s path
to another place and time avoiding gods wrath.
Good one Jeanne! I enjoy reading your poems!
