Stopping in Kalamath Falls, Oregon

Walking through the woods

for the first time in years, air smelling

salubrious and green. Stopping me suddenly

to light up my Loud rolled in a Vanilla Dutch

tobacco leaf, as the vista petitioned me

to meditate next to the calmness

of a moss covered rock. One

knee up to support my

head – heavy as

Gibraltar.

A breeze knocked against my face,

inhaling it opened my lungs, exhaling both

wind and smoke from the blunt, core cleansing

 breathe that carried the dust from my soul;

birds chirped, leaves whispered, as two

large Western grey squirrels scurry in

quest for seeds and nuts, a site

focusing all my attention,

 as it swiftly evacuates

 a mind mess.

My head tilts into the sound

of a small waterfall, causing my body

to grow lighter as it streams into a beautiful mist,

and splashes of memorial from a healing woman

celebrated on the phone for seconds, as she

dissolved the stress of a lifetime with

 a few encouraging words, fading

despair on a rift of evanescent

wind, in a memory that will

 last a lifetime.

Wow, what a great moment in time would materialize if that dream were to come true. Still I see the distance making such an invitation whizz by - while I shall sit in sorrow at the fortune sitting across from me drinking a cup of coffee ... I glimpsed and lost.

Well, it would certainly whiz by. Especially on coffee. Perhaps one day we'd be in the same location. Until then, enjoy California! :)

"Feel I'm goin' back to Massachusetts

Something's telling me I must go home
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
The day I left her standing on her own..."
