A Treatise on Torment

a newborn babe starts life with a plaintive wail

and so begins a cycle only time can tell.

each pain seeks and strives a palpable relief

and each contented sigh presages a new grief.

early days of life teach of dangers in the body

cuts and scrapes and burns seeking dexterity.

each trial and tribulation spurs us internally

to reach a higher level of personal autonomy.

emotional wounds bind us together and reveal

all the ways to give support and help eachother heal.

those in greater pain lash out and cause us all to hurt.

torment is the cause of all who torture and subvert.

an existential crisis spurs us on to change outside or within.

sometimes we leap from pan to flame back to the pan again.

its the pain itself that drives us to seek the greater change.

it often takes a great effort to make your life rearrange.

but in the endless cycle the pain reveals the truth

of every inner nature of the elders and the youth.

sweet and glowing souls always help to ease the pain

while darker creatures among us all pursue their own gain.

all the while it is pain that forces us to grow

to learn and improve and expand on what we know

to make a life out of what we are given on the day we are born

and make it bearable or joyous until we are old and worn.

and in the throes of death, torment separates the soul

from the body that held it and gave it a living home.

and as we rise to the bosom of infinite release

all forms of pain and torment gently recede.

in the cycle of birth and death pain only happens here

the realm of living, life, and love is the realm of fear

it is the torment and the strife that makes the meaning real.

what's the point of life if we never feel?

and on the cusp of rising never to return

at the door of heaven one last lesson here to learn.

each ecstatic pleasure and each intense pain

was held in the heart and endured all the same

for one final purpose to prepare you for the light

the most intense experience helps expand your inner sight

and all that you endure while you still retain your Self

expands your ability to endure the God himself.

so everyone you know who will pass through heaven's gate

will first endure a trial of intensely painful fate.

and in your joyous rise you will say it's worth the wait.

and in your deepest heart, you'll thank your enemies for the hate.

and each great trial and each great joy will fade before the light.

and all thats left to learn is how to let go with all your might.

Until now.

Your words are so much.

If I start describing them

I would probably embarrass

One of Us.

Truth

Each line quivers with deep truths. I will always come back to this one, to remind myself again and again.
