toiling as if tireless
meeting drudgery and calamity
with monumental will.
always forging ahead
but not always full steam
always ever forward.
conjuring momentum
from depths never seen
through all forms of pain.
and never progress.
running ever faster
to stay in place.
and still to toil.
meeting drudgery and calamity
with monumental will.
to watch everything
you ever knew and loved
disintegrate and die.
to watch destruction
on a grand scale
warnings unheeded.
to watch every effort
washed away to nothing
forever undone.
and still to toil.
meeting drudgery and calamity
with monumental will.
why? if dawn never comes.
when i have nothing left.
when oblivion is so effortless.
I can relate
More than you will ever know.

i'm sorry to hear that :(
i'm sorry to hear that :(
Why sorry?
When poems delve into the core of what it means to be alive and to work and dream and overcome with "monumental will" you hit on something common to anyone who is thoughtful and sees themselves as a successful human. Good words for us ~Allets~
