Run!
Gazelles leap from crocodiles over tumbling grasses.
Racehorses flee the whips on their back, they cannot escape.
Sweat and frothing foam and heart beats like a speed metal bass drum
By a long hair flailing drummer who is also covered in sweat
Run faster!
Deer disappear with a leap and an invisibility cloak.
Put the cheetah to shame.
Send him home a hungry cheetah exile
Making pitiful excuses at the old watering hole.
Keep going!
Muscles burn like wildfires on erupting volcanoes,
Lungs heaving pure steam engines, heart collapsing entirely.
To the ends of the earth! Beyond all contact,
Outside even the hinterlands of the information superhighway
What happened to the frontier?
If only legs were wings, I'd fly all the way to Mars.
Build a fortification that makes the God of War nervous.
Walls that turn ancient knights and princes back into humble folk.
Force fields that field all forces. Silent. Invisible.
Faraday cages and phones off the hook and no soliciting signs.
Danger! Poison! Cavernous sinkholes! Explosive toxic gas!!!
Radiation contamination zone started 10 miles ago.
Beware of dog-faced venomous snake-spider-tigers.
Circuitous detours to route all incoming traffic
On a seven lightyear journey back to Earth.
Mail marked "Return to Sender" "Recipient Never Existed"
Last gas station ever 300 miles back.
My own lifeboat. Solitude.
Too far away to witness or care
On the last day of Earth.
Human civilization's extinction.
The Truth of A New Day
I will never doubt my innui and lethargy at waking ever again -- I had no idea there was so much of that out there. Carniverous sinkholes - wow! ~a~ oh-cavernous sinkholes - not too bad.
awww thanks :) i was trying
awww thanks :) i was trying to take it in a humerous direction there :)
yeah one great thing about post poems is you really get to see that no matter what emotion you have, there's a lot of other people who have felt it too.
You speak Truth right here
It is remarkable sometimes
How the vibes get co-mingled.
I will leave it at there for now.
I always like your writes though;
Just so you know.
