The Feathered Love Affair

2:06AM
and thoughts come
flooding on through
and a bird is
knocking in my chest
every minute clicks by he gets angrier
sweat droplets escape from its feathered forehead as he beats the locked door
he's frustrated
neglected
lonely
he is rarely touched
and barely understood
i let him out at night
so no one can see him for what he is
truly
he escapes sometimes though
that pesky bird
he travels through my veins
and he ventures out of my finger tips
sloppily shooting out lovely words onto paper
but quickly i put him back in his cage
before dawn breaks
and this is daily
the bird and i have a love affair
i cheat on the rock in my head with this feathered beauty
don't get me wrong
the rock is strong and wise
but the bird
it
it
it drowns me in an ocean of intricacies
and it makes me feel
and darlin' i'm so fatigued
so ill of feeling not a single damn thing
