This Poem

I’m sitting here reading this poem right now.

I see the black inked words slip patiently across the screen

While I concentrate and try to catch the deeper meaning,

Because it’s a poem and you know how poems are.

I don’t know what to think about this poem right now.

It seems a little intrusive, it’s not minding its own business.

I’m here, breathing calmly, but the poem’s not supposed to know that.

This is my personal space.

I don’t think I like this poem so much right now.

It’s unique, I have to admit.

But it’s also a little boring.  I want to feel something special.

This is just about me feeling what I already feel right now.

This is just about me.

Right now is just about me.

I feel pretty good about me.

I like myself right now.

First, I must apologize for

First, I must apologize for not keeping up with your poems.  Personal issues keep me behind right now, so please forgive me.

Next, let me say how very, very impressive this poem is.  I love meta-poetry, and this is definitely a meta-poem.  And the tone of your words is conversational, but the reader knows that this is definitely a poem, a superior poem, and not some prose scribble by a wannabe.

I applaud your accomplishment in this poem.

No problem, and I did not

No problem, and I did not feel an obligation, just an admiration for this poem.
