I never saw her do it before
I had heard rumors but never witnessed it myself.
Sure enough, there she was
Screaming obscenities at the top of her lungs
in the walk-in cooler.
She’s right, it is sound-proof.
The new girl called me up.
We shared some tears over the loss.
I had to explain the history of
”How Things Got So Fucked Up Around Here”
And it’s quite a tale of how not to run a business.
The business plan was not fool-proof.
(A sufficiently high-ranking fool can ruin any plan.)
My momma always says
”What happens in the kitchen stays in the kitchen.”
I really wish I had stayed in the kitchen.
In the walk-in. Also swearing at the top of my lungs.
And crying. With no milk left to spill.
It seems like the perfect place to rethink my life plan.
The new boss lost the business
And it went back to the old boss
Who does not want it.
Literally no one wants to be there
Except some customers who have no idea. Poor saps.
Meet the new boss, who actually is the old boss.
Tears were shed, drinks were spilled.
A horrid time was had by all.
The computers are all broke and so’s the boss.
All kitchen staff get a pay cut effective immediately.
Wait staff could wait all day for a table to show up.
The profit margin is marginally negative.
Oh, and it’s the perfect time to close the bar,
Since we are between liquor licenses,
It’s the best time to try prohibition,
Just when everyone finally agreed
on one single thing:
We all need a fucking drink.
Making It Work
those pay cuts hurt. Business failures are hard. Sorry to hear another one is rising from the ashes of the old one. Maybe this phoenix will have more resilient feathers and a beak full of booze to weather the economic climate. A write for the times ahead. Recession! :D
Making it work
is the perfect line for the circumstances :) thank you for your kind words, and I hope so too!

Don't let any one shake your dream stars from your eyes, lest your soul Come away with them! -SS
"Well, it's love, but not as we know it."
Yep true.
The boss went out of business and the restaurant reverted to the old owners. They are trying to fix it but they are just as shocked and helpless as the rest of us. I had to get out my frustration. Morale has plummetted, to be sure.
But of course, things can only get better from here, right? At least we have a shiny new liquor license so the booze is back lol :)
It always comes back to the
It always comes back to the drink
Lol
thanks for reading :)
