i miss mercury in retrograde

when the phone falls asleep.

miscommunication

visitors find themselves lost.

yesterday's barriers to connection

so lonely at the time

now look like blessed peace

from this vastly changed pace.

oh what i wouldn't give

for someone to lose my number

for that email to go to the junk folder

for a flat tire on the way to a party.

smooth communication comes too easy

without a wall of complication i lose

my most valuable possession

my time.

the grass was greener when all my friends

forgot we made plans and family

only called when they needed me

or feared for my sanity.

and time to get lost.
