mirrors don't lie
my reflection in your eyes
i can never be
who you wanted me to.
how do i love thee?
let me count the ways
that i'm not good enough for you.
subtle little barbs
you self help guru
raise me up the playing field
grooming me to perfectly
compliment you.
a careful image composed
to stand next to you.
light fire under feet
so if i dance on coals
eventually
i'll fit in with all of you
even though
you yourself stay low
and step on nothing
more dangerous than drops of dew.
so mediocre
even amidst the mediocrity.
surprised you ever noticed me.
your actions speak truth.
what effort was i worth, to keep?
you'd rather chase dream vixens
and lose.
Nice Line!
"...step on nothing/more dangerous than drops of dew..." - bravo! slc
thanks!!!
i honestly wasn't too sure about that line, since i had to use "drops of dew" instead of "dewdrops" to maintain the rhythm. i was afraid it might sound too forced. but i went with it anyway :)
On the Verge
Of telling you
How much I like it.

hahaha!!!
i'll wait in suspense then
And bam! There it is! Yes the
And bam! There it is! Yes the quintessential story of settling. But sometimes that's how real love starts ) great piece loved the Shakespeare reference too. I have a similar idea in a piece or few hundred ;) hugss
Don't let any one shake your dream stars from your eyes, lest your soul Come away with them! -SS
"Well, it's love, but not as we know it."
just based on the sheer amount of poems
i think "a few hundred" is probably right!!!!
aww thanks ssmoothie!!!
i' ve noticed a lot of ur poems describe relationship problems similar to mine.... unfortunately lol!!! like ur title (sorry if i eff it up) "the downside of accommodating and sacrifice" that's a mouthful of truth right there.
