Waterbaby

Poetry

When I was a little girl

I had a babydoll.

She was plastic and cheap

but I loved her like she was

my own daughter.

She wore a little pink sleeper and

had soft blonde hair.

I watched her little eyes close

when I placed her in my

toy crib.

I took her into my nightly bath

with me.

There was a little hole drilled

in her bottom so

water could drain out.

I held her under just so

I could see the water run

out of that ugly hole

when I took her out.

If she were really my

daughter today,

I'd kill myself for drowning her.
