Knight of The Common Man
by AManFromMaine
I have received word from my Centurion that you are alive and well. These “words” were an elixir to my wounds as I am mending well but the men … the men with the healing powers… they caution me to add patience with my actions.
I long for your gentle touch and how soothing and easing that would feel to my pain… the guards are away right now and I can speak freely … I so long for your warm embrace.
There is still much work to be done but we have had many recent successes. I am told we are poised and repositioned as we rest and for the light of the moon for an incursion.
I find myself thinking this same moon guides me in both love and war as well. I look up to the heavens and think of you my love… and ask myself if you are watching this same god?
In the end there will be only peace and our love and we will deliver a glorious victory to you my love! We have had casualties and there have been betrayals… and it has been a long and at times unyielding battle but our forces have been equal and steadfast to their challenge.
You must never fear for me my love; I am your Knight. But you must ALWAYS believe in me as I use wisdom as my guide through my journey. You must ALWAYS believe in justice because YOUR Knight is The Champion of The Common Man .
Welcome Back
A blast from the past :D
Revisiting this after three
Revisiting this after three years, I find it just as fascinating, although my reading jumped the track at the last stanza, as it sounds too contemporary and not at all medieval, like the prior stanzas. Still, that aside, this is a grand poem, and I like it as much as I did on that first read.

Dear Starward
I can't thank you enough. You have the kindest words. I hope to publish more in the future. Out of curiosity, you seem like you may have professional expierence in either teaching or writing. What is your backgroung if I may ask?

Letters From The Mideval Trenches
Knight possibly king, to his lady for whom he can not be false. Like letters from any war, you get the view from inside as if a report from a pikeman to a liege about the campaign. From the healing bed is a nice romantic touch.
.
this made me see some cool scenes
I'm surprised I missed this piece of writing. Thoroughly enjoyed the reading.
