Not so much with the critique of human activities was planned for this year, but checking cbs news I found a man had fondled and sexually assaulted a woman on Spirit airlines while she slept. She woke up with her blouse undone and his hands inside her pants. What is it with people who think they can do anything without consquences? He was arrainged Wednesay to be incarcerated - I hope he rethought himself while inside a cell. Now, women are not taking that from men. Period. Federal Court offense - on an airline; I wonder if on US soil is it a federal offense? Silence used to golden, now it has jail bars and a strip search attached to its shades of justice.

I was appalled. He had previous sexual assault charges which tend to lead me to believe he was abused or has serious emotional issues. Whatever the case, young men be warned. Officials are taking charges of sexual misconduct seriously immediately. Wholistically, it is as if the idea of decency is spreading across all levels of society...misconduct is being called out. Why kneeling in the NFL got headlines - men acting apart, in protest, conscientiously making a statement--is what brought attention to public abuse of individuals being killed because men were acting outside norm expectations and professioanlism as police officers. And more men acted badly - killing cops, spraying a country and western concert, and hundreds wounded or killed at public venues, cars ploughing into crowds. Motivations variy from purposfully malicious, rapturously seeking martyrdom, or insanity - -  I am pushed back to grandmama and her freinds claiming, "They momas outta did bettah by dem."

Women are speaking out, so are men. Talking is good for a republic to be healthy. It shapes us. As poets we must keep front and center the human world around us. In small, we isolate love and loss, hate and world figures. The larger picture runs to shore then ebbs. When events happen, I always ask where did that come from? Copy cat? Fed up? Broken? It will not get better until we teach better behavior. Not fondling women asleep on airplanes is a good place to start.
