.
A Demi-God walks in a room
and everyone pauses, looks
at him until it hits them that he
is not wearing a cape or spangled
stars. His hair is a bit long
and he is trim and sleek
down to his muscular form.
.
He did not transform, save anyone
from a fire and come in with his suit
smoking. But heads and eyes turned.
He had muscles in his eyelids.
.
Everyone wants a hero because
we are conditioned to having leaders
with ultra-human powers. You know
the lot: X-Men, Thor, mild mannered
farm fellows, Bourne, Conan,
Orlando or Keanu.
.
He looked like all of them bundled
into a super package. Turned out he
was just the guy who kept the bar well
stocked with ice and spritzer water.

Your sharp wit pierces me yet tickles the funny bones :)
Humor
should pierce - glad you got the "point". Ah, yes there is more than one funny bone - be well and I hope to send a tickle periodcally. ;D ~~Lady A~~
Yes---imagination and
Yes---imagination and delusion are two different things. What a stark awakening and disappointment I had when I learned cartoons were not real. Santa was the easiest one, as I remember the first year he did not come, and have treasured the truth in that ever since. (never really was drawn to materialism too much and that red---too glaring and ostentacious). Now that is what 'saved' must really mean! LOL

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
Soooooo
...there is some kind of controversy about the existence of Santa. Damn! - Thanks for the read and, as always, the thoughtful comment - I imagined myself a materialist, I just could not imagine the wealth to equal the cost of the imaginary stuff. There really is no Santa? :D ~Allets

Lovely lovely lovely Lady aLLets
Lovely lovely lovely Lady aLLets ... very very nice practical angle. I often wonder how the eyes overlook mundane lies and we all long for superheros and superwomen/supergirls ......... Like as the BARD said we are simply actors... so no harm in believing in supermen/women and Santa Claus. Is there Madam ? After all dreaming is blissful and pleasurable. Even I try to shave and put on deo.. why ? not for attracting anyone but .. well.. maybe I "think" that I'm Brad Pitt or Clark Kent with spectacles.Anyway Thor is a depicted He-man. I would love to have his muscles and strength. Maybe fiction character creators know this thinking angle else who would believe in Superman,Batman,Catwoman, etc. I think this is how brands are promoted.
Sorry for writing so much

The BARD
"...the world's a stage..." every scene is precious. Thanks for the comments. Is there some kind of controversy over the existence of Santa that I don't know about? ;D - You made my day! ~Allets~ There is a Santa, there is, there is!)
Glad you believe
Respected Allets Madam,
Glad you believe in Santa though Santa comes into our lives rarely casting his spell and we get things we yearn for
I loved your piece.

Respected Bishu Gentleman
I know there is no actual Santa - but sometimes I hear the phrase "Christmas came early". Believing, I do not have to explain why I'm on the floor with the kids with crayons coloring pictures of reindeer and the cat in red. That goes for Halloween too. There are witches. There Are! :D - muah! ~A~
