Taking Rice For Granted

Folder:
Crumbling Planet

.

Lead and arsenic? We chew on lead

for fun here and arsenic goes down so

well. No one ever complained about

rice until the U.S. decided that China

grows a lot of it for usa.

.

Is all rice full of poison? Okay,

now how does oil come into

this debate? Nuclear waste

in rice paddy water sounds

like real rhetoric.

.

I never liked rice pudding

but I have rice by the pounds

in the pantry. I'm doomed. I

own a rice cooker!

.

For crying out loud, rice

is dangerous. For whispering

too soft, there are echoed

warnings rising in white steam

in my kitchen above fire.

.

Frankly, I don't know where my food

comes from. I'm stupid that way.

I actually trusted the government

to keep me protected from rads

in the rice. When will I learn

the practicalities?

.

If the water is polluted, the food

cows eat, and the water they drink

is suspect. Will that translate

into more lies from the government?

From industry? If the air is full

of bad news and the soil is corrupted,

then the water must be ... Oh stop!

People get so carried away

People get so carried away with things nowadays. I love this.

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."
