My father since I was a little kid has always bought boots. Twice a year he takes us to Saltillo to a little store located in the outsides of this city. He only buys them in the same store which is called “Strong Boots” (Botas Recio), as far as I remember the same man has always been there attending my father. My father started going there 21 years ago, when he started a business over there and he saw that place for first time. One time we went and he did not find the store the same place it had been there always, that day he was very sad because he did not find his boots, 18 years going to the same place to buy his boots and suddenly they were gone, he did not give up and decided to look out for his boots by the whole city. After looking out for an hour and a half my father found the store and same old man who sells them. Every day since I remember my dad has always used his boots, for each type of event he chooses the color, if he goes to an important event he uses light colors and for normal days he uses dark ones. If you add up all the boots my father actually haves they are around 20, he says he has many of them so he can alternate them. He loves them, when he does not get to use his boots and needs to use a normal shoe he gets sad and does not feel comfortable he does not like to go around without his boots, even when I was younger and he used to play soccer with me he also used his boots. My father’s boots are something that recognizes him, he also tried to make me wear them when I was a little kid but after my 5^th birthday I decided to stop using boots. They have a very important meaning for my father because they remember to him from where he is and where he grew up. That’s one of the reasons he likes so mucho to use them and to have a lot of them. Also they have a meaning for the family because it’s an excuse for us to travel to Saltillo, spend some family time, and it’s kind of tradition for us going to the same store and buy my father boots twice a year and spend some time together, that’s why they are important for me.
