At Shiloh, Judge Jephthah's Decision---Reversed

[after Judges 11:30-40]

Judge Jephthah, you did not consider how
the Lord is not bound to receive your vow?
The Lord is not rash, nor has need to take it
as you were rash and full of pride to make it.
A human sacrifice defies God's law
which does not change the slightest bit at all,
not since sent down from Sinai in the time
of Moses. You will not commit this crime
at Shiloh, or elsewhere. We will allow
your daughter to serve God as His handmaid,
with others, at the tabernacle. Stayed
from murder you can now resheathe your blade.
We have admired your courage: not now, once
we heard from you own mouth such ignorance.
