Marble Mermaids

in communications within confines disjointed

traced by dawns muted light across the sky

the relentless pulse of time

vigilant beauty vulnerable aspirant

where memories select themselves

fables of saline burnished in shade

discontent, voluptuous, libertine of confused stone

resident in a web of waves, the cold blue aqua base

infertile threads of a wayward mermaids bosom

often these moments I have wondered

did she herself ever notice

was there any awareness

of that one solitary heart

so many tears

drained away upon my heart

hallucinated thoughts mimic me

Iā€™m unashamed sprawled in embrace at her tail

views to a tortuous, seaborne trauma

across luminous, life described in marble

makes me marvel

at the thoughts that destroy my soul

ruptured numbness just riptides me away

yet again

I am shocked that a poem this beautiful has not yet received any comments; and I am equally pleased to be able to put the first one on. One aspect of your poetry makes comment somewhat difficult. Each poem is a seamless whole, therefore pointing out the various components seems altogether futile, because they are all so intimately meshed together in a successful process. I do not know, actually, why this poem impresses me, and I do not care. The impression is what matters. In the same way, I do not know how my PC actually gets me to the Internet, but it does. Like Wallace Stevens' poetry (the highest compliment I can offer), your poems create a world vastly apart from the mundane. And the world within your poems cannot be dissected into parts; or, often, into segments for individual comment.
