It's a swift swirl down now,
Into a sleep never-ending.
Maybe chance a dance inside her eyes,
my fingers in her hair,
like hand-woven lace.
I could have laughed,
should have smiled in her embrace.
Instead, I find myself wanting
To set her amongst the stars,
With stars in her eyes I knew
She'd be there for me too.
Still, I'm burned by the promise of denial,
I'm calm and I'm unleashed.
With wind beneath my feet,
I'm floating unevenly towards
A look, a stare, a glance...a smile.
Another drink and this dream is erased.
Now I'm touching her face
And I touch base with reality.
Coming close to pushing it far away,
Turning her astray to wander
the fine lines of my predisposition.
But it's only one moment
And I've nothing to lose.
