Love and Happiness of waking to baby cuddles

Early Morning Cuddles

Folder:
Family Poems

In early morning as I come alert and start to wake,
Through the window, spots the walls, sunshine starts to break.
I feel someone's little toes poking me, repeatedly, in the side,
My Baby is up, the fact I am awake, I am trying hard to hide.
I lay very still and make no noise, with my eyes closed tight,
I hear someone jabbering and the urge to smile I now fight.
Beside me, he chatters and squirms and kicks me again,
And I feel the love course through me, for my little man.

I am awake now and his toes in my ribs are getting sore,
He is trying so hard to wake me, I can't fight the smile anymore.
So I crack one eye open, just a little, to sneak a peek,
He freezes, he spotted me, he lets out a loud and happy squeak.
My game is over, so with both eyes open, I smile at my Baby Boy,
He reaches for me, as his drool-y face lights up with a smile of joy.
I pick him up to snuggle and he rests his head against my chest,
This early morning cuddle, has to be the one I love the best!
He aims his open mouth at my face, trying hard to give me kisses,
His slobbery mouth, makes me wonder, what will be wet, if he misses.

Snuggles time is over, I put him down with his toys, so he can play,
And I am already looking forward to the next cuddle of the day.
He won't be a little baby boy very long, each day he learns and grows,
Already he can roll over, shake a rattle, rock his chair and touch his toes.
So all his baby cuddles, snuggles and drool-y kisses I will take,
All the jabbering, laughing, squealing and every wonderful smile he can make.
Soon he will be a Big Boy and cuddling time will be hard to find,
So while I can, I will create these great baby memories in my mind!
