“From Rock Bottom to River Bottom”
By Jen Langford
I woke up in the shadows, cold and alone
Wounds on my spirit, bruises in bone
Chains of my past were dragging me deep
Too tired to run, too broken to weep
I cried out in silence, no one could hear
The echo of failure, the voice of my fear
But mercy found me where I had sunk
In the valley of ashes, where the soul feels drunk
From rock bottom to river bottom,
You met me in the flood
Washed my shame in holy water,
Covered me with love
You turned my pain into a promise,
My ruin into song
Jesus, You were faithful
When I couldn’t hold on
I wandered the desert, burned by the sun
Addiction my master, abuse left me numb
But in the dry places, I heard a small sound
A whisper of grace that turned me around
You pulled me through fire, You held me in storms
You carried me bleeding through spiritual wars
Now scars tell a story, not of defeat
But a Savior who knelt down and washed my feet
From rock bottom to river bottom,
You met me in the flood
Washed my shame in holy water,
Covered me with love
You turned my pain into a promise,
My ruin into song
Jesus, You were faithful
When I couldn’t hold on
I see the cross now rising above
A symbol of wrath transformed by love
Death had a plan but grace had a name
And Jesus, You stepped in and took all the blame
No wilderness wide enough
No chain You can’t break
You turned my collapse
Into a holy escape
From rock bottom to river bottom,
You rewrote my end
You’re the God of restoration,
My Savior, my Friend
You turned my grave into a garden,
My trials into trust
Jesus, You were faithful
When I was dust
From rock bottom to river bottom,
Now I rise with You
Hope runs deeper than my sorrow —
Your mercy pulled me through.
