I originate from the former Yugoslavia and I was 7 years old when a civil war erupted in my mother country, a scar that to this day weighs heavy on my heart. This poem is both a reminder and a dedication. I currently live in Canada, consider myself Canadian and absolutely love Canada. Though, that doesn't mean that I wasn't affected or that I don't ever think about how my life would have turned out if the civil war in Yugoslavia never took place.
