I am proud to know you
As i sit here enjoying the twilight of my life
I remember the things i have seen that took me to the light
And i remember the good musters on which I have been
And the good men that did their work just right
All the bosses whose work is as good as I’ve seen
And many more so numerous, but it’s their right
To be mentioned here for these men have seen the light
They say the bush is dying and the stockman is gone
They wouldn’t know a bloody thing
The stockman lives on
And the country, yes the country over which i have flown
Australia is beautiful if only it was known
But perhaps that’s what has saved our country from being overgrown
With tourists and vehicles, and all things over thrown
But mostly its the people, the people i have met
All the cooks and gardeners, the ringers riding yet
Those make our land so great, my memories so proud
I need to procrastinate, to say these things out loud
Stand up you good bushmen when your name is called
For i am so proud to know you, you are strong, I love you all
