A heart is a precious thing she said
She dreamed of a love so pure
A smile and shining light
Was the start to a love with no cure
Like a fairytale of perfection
She found herself smitten
From a snake kisses of poison
Killing her inside out being bitten
I’ll never hurt you he said
He chained her mind and sighed
It’s never good enough he preached
Her red eyes begged and tried
He left her repressed in darkness
Alone with her demons for comfort
Blind and numb to a world around
He shut all doors feeling triumphant
Four months of isolation
She lay on the cold floors as a friend
No pulse, no emotion hardly breathing
She begged for this to end
Then in darkness a light briefly shone
She crawled like a child on her knees
She felt something warm hold her gently
And place in her hand the keys
A dream in darkness she thought
She lay down in her final bed
Lips against her own mutually breathing
Hands embrace together fighting off the dead
A new face who had loved her then
He too had been burned left in emptiness
Found her hand when it was too late
Finding love whilst heartbroken
Finding each other while lost in the dark
