I watch as she slowly fades away.
You abandoned her.
You were her life, her reason to be.
...
So many years the center of her universe
then, one day, gone.
In a flash the universe changes,
the sparkle of mischief in her eyes dies.
Her reason to be utterly lost.
I reach out to stroke that beloved cheek.
Grandma, don't fade away,
we're still here with you.
My fingers touch the glass,
smooth, reflective surface
Fading, my eyes stare back
Oh
It's you
Oh
It's me.
Fading away, grief swallows her
she is gone.
