Troy Davis

there's a man
he could be your brother, he could be your son
spent a lot of his life on the run
cause the good guys just happen to be the bad guys too
who knew
you don't feel guilty? it could happen to you
spent the last four years in a box, trying to get an appeal
eyewitnesses changed their stories, said the cop made them make a deal
can't be real
coming from the big white mansion
killed so many innocent children, but people still aren't understanding
some of the people you trust with your life are still criminals
only they aren't contained in a prison cell
bout time we give 'em hell, stand up for your country
you can trust me
inside jobs and false testimonies

get off with a slap on the wrist when somebody's daddy is sitting on death row
no where to go
for help
how the hell can we live
with ourselves
innocent people in jail and mothers who killed their own daughters are free to roam
and still we call this place home
and i don't know where the heart is
but i thought you should know this
story of troy davis

this part's for you - would it kill someone if you signed a petition or just listened
to the people who are asking these questions, we're not all crazy,
I'm white, and sticking up for a black man
who cares, there ain't no reason we can't all hold hands
you preach about racism but you're just as guilty,
that boy graduated college with a bachelor's degree.. joke's on you
but he probably did it, he's black, after all, that's what they do
what makes you think that white people can't commit crimes too
a suit and tie or a badge never made anybody a saint, and
you elected a dude who just wanted both his hands in the oil, man
i just can't understand, there's more support for a war than peace?
can't believe everything you see, but believe this man should be freed.
