The roads we wandered down
Were so hard to endeavor
Sometimes I wonder how we ever
Found each other
Amidst a world so shattered
Therefore, it is with heartfelt thanksgiving
The light you ignited, defeated
My grieving and provided me needed
Solace, and impeded
The ache my heart was feeling
And, I want you to know, I felt it so clearly
The struggle you kept
Protecting so dearly your innocence
Knowing love would profess
Itself fulfilled in the name of its own debt
Cause, when I was just a little kid
My mother told me love was more than
Words falling from lips, and that
If I simply asked
It'd be found in a stranger's open hand
So, when my strength was failing me
Your heart reached out
And, gave me words you spoke aloud
With boldness, as to how
To notice love amidst a world of doubt
And, it's taken years to fully understand
How the wisdom held within
A pure girl's hand, can somehow bend
A young man's thoughts toward when
He is hers and she is his
