Irony You Never See

Folder:
2007

Here you are

Searching for warmth in any form you can handle

Playing it cool

While, all along your insides are boiling

Over the person who was infallible until they broke

Who was everything you wanted until they weren't

And, who all along was the only false mask

Hiding the heart whose beat you could hardly feel anyhow

I see the pain filling up these blue skies

Floating aimlessly like butterflies

But, you were not meant to cry

You were not meant to cry

Searching furiously

Scattering a drawer of letters on a bedroom floor

And, that's the meaning

Of the kind of irony you never see even with open eyes

Sometimes sight is the blackest light that exists

And, hope is the only amount of truth you can resist

And, now the future is coming slow

Like a rocket dragging a parachute into gale winds

Can't you see me

I'm trying to find you

But, God, it's a struggle

Trying to scale the walls between the two of us

I see the pain filling up these blue skies

Floating aimlessly like butterflies

But, you were not meant to cry

You were not meant to cry
