Self-Sympathy

Folder:
The Present

Take this, baby take this off

It’s so simple to shrug the world off your shoulders

And you’re the perfect example of a self-disaster

A catastrophe that can’t be put back together

It’s so hard to be whole once you’ve been broken, isn’t it

Isn’t it so typical once you’ve been broken

To cry your tears and weep in anger

Would be to regret all the things that you once loved

It was just a second in time

But if you had a second chance

You’d live that moment for the rest of you life

And now you’ve become the epitome of self-sympathy

You wear such simple credentials

And play them off as well as your able

Don’t you feel like you’ve cut yourself a little short

Why do you listen to opinions when you know they’re wrong

They’re just tearing down what you could become, aren’t they

Aren’t they everything that you didn’t want

To cry tears and weep in anger

Would be to regret all the things that you once loved

It was just a second in time

But if you had a second chance

You’d live that moment for the rest of you life

And now you’ve become the epitome of self-sympathy

And I can understand where you might be coming from

Cause I’ve been dwelling in my past for too long too

Does that mean that I’m regretting all that I once loved

It was just a second in time

And if I had a second chance

I’d live that moment for the rest of my life

But I’ve become the epitome of self-sympathy

Does this mean that I will always regret all that I once loved

Self-sympathy
