Tripping Over My Tongue

Folder:
Rearview

I'm leaving next week

I'm skyscraper high and subway deep

New York City is big and I'm so weak

But I got a friend who'll be with me

She's the type of which I've never known

But the kind I'd like to get to know better

Are you catching what I mean

It's just a simple line

It's such a simple thing

But my words get shakey

And my legs get weak

I'm tripping over my tongue

It seems you've got me walking on my knees

I hope this will be worth our wait

And that this plane ticket wasn't booked too late

But it's okay if you don't want to do, to do today

But if you're gonna be in town, I'm asking you to stay

You're the kind of girl I've never known

But the kind I think I could grow to love

Are you catching what I mean

It's such a simple line

It's such a simple thing

But my words get shakey

And my legs get weak

I'm tripping over my tongue

It seems you've got me walking on my knees

I think you're catching what I mean

I hope that you can finally see

It's such a simple line

It's such a simple thing

My words get shakey

My legs get weak

My tongue is down at my feet

And I'm falling, falling for you

Will you catch me before I fall

Just before I trip

Just before I crawl

Cause my words are getting shakey

And my legs are getting weak

I'm falling over my tongue

It's seems I'm falling for you

'I'm skyscraper high and subway deep' I liked that. I can really identify with this poem and could also hear it as a song in my head. I also liked the repeated stanza. It was very effective.
