Stand behind your man
Stand behind your man
Behind every strong successful man
Is a good woman
Behind, behind
Some find that word an offence
But please do not misconstrue
A fresh new perspective
will turn behind around for you
When I say I stand behind my man
I say I got his back, do you understand?
His back, a vulnerable place, of unknown faults
Weakness and even ugliness
my love for him covers this
yes I’ve got his back
the back is a place where much tension can be felt
he can’t reach it
I relieve the pressure when I listen and reassure
Let him know my love for him is sure
The back, a place where one can feel exposed.
Espoused-feeling alone to the harsh wind and cold
At these times all he needs is
For me to hold him
With not a word just hold
Warm him up from the cold
He has my trust in areas he cannot see
I have him covered
I won’t attack, stab him in his back
even when it is convenient
to expose his weakness
on his back he lays
as he lays on my lap
a place of needed rest
vulnerability and surrender
in that area I am his defender
he cannot see behind him
I have got his back
He’s in front of me front line
Fighting for his life and mine
Protecting his family
Leading them spiritually
In forward stance
He can’t see behind
But, he knows he can depend on me
I am there
I cover him in prayer
Stand behind your man
Stand behind your man
Behind every strong successful man
Is a good woman, a strong woman,
A praying woman, a virtuous woman
