Chained slave

Like a person on a restricted diet

Who waited too long to eat

The hunger within would not quiet

Thus he fell into a forbidden treat

He tried to say he was sorry

That the taste was oh so bitter

But the subsided famine within

Begged to strongly differ

Although it was a sin

So like a slave he goes

His body only knows

To stay alive to survive

It must quench this

With Daily strive

To find the tonic to fulfill

To heal this ache

To somber this ill

But quality of life

Quakes away to destruction

For like a slave he goes

Chains pulling him

Whips lashing

Yes he is driven

Is this life or death

that he is living

nothing matters but the call to

his name he hears down cracked hall

ways to death

back and forth

forth and back

risking heart attack

wondering when will be the last time

when will be the last high

when will he shoot up too much then die

like a cold train his soul quivers

like a dried sponge his liver shrivels

steeped like sour pickles

his heart strains like old windows

that can’t holdback the wind

death howls down his back

yet he still turns back to his vomit

close calls don’t deter him at all

for he is slave shackled to it

hooked to the stall

a bound slave can’t run

till he is delivered from the chain

till he is set free from the grain

if that’s you call on Jesus name

then deliverance like a swift sword

will meet you at and greet you

with the appropriate word

say goodbye to old hum drumm

say hello to freedom

let the chains fall

for you won’t need them at all

run free man run

run free man run

run to the son of life

run till you skip

run till you dance

do the prance

run till you are far away

from yesterday

run till you run into your

new day, run.

Don’t stop till you get there, run

Fast run slow

Just go, run

For you won’t run alone

You feet will ne’er touch the ground

For god himself will be the sound of

Each victorious round.

Run with god
