Hunger

The hungry lion a long since eaten

All of his efforts to feed were beaten

So now his famishing at its peak

His strength, his agility getting weak

He scrambles desperately for meat to fry

But he has lost his touch

So even the ravens fly

Away from his scattered hunting approach

He can’t even catch a roach

Desperation makes him clumsy

For he is starving, he is very hungry

Zebras see him coming a mile away

The lion is on the prowl they say

So to their trees and caves they stay

Till the dawn of a new day

when the hunter has given up its prey

a hungry soul cant see its eyes

a hungry soul carries ties

of empty knots in its midst

it is driven not led

it is  devouring not fed

its lays down in hard places not bed

it wears costumes of façade not robes of joy

wishing and hoping is its new toy

scraping and scratching to be seen

for love red and money green

malnutrition soul can’t digest

the meat of the word in its chest

choking on the nutritious meal

that they used to be ready to steal

away to consume

in the corner of any room

now it has lost its appetite

now they won’t even take a bite

hungry soul get help quick

thirsty one take a sip

one at a time bit by bit

your passion, your joy

god will restore it

take a sniff of the feast prepared

taste and see don’t be scared

god is good, it is so

won’t you come to his table today

before you starve and you wither away

god is good it is so

if you didn’t know now you know
